7-1-7. Categorical Outlooks

 

a. 전반적인 ceiling 및 visibility를 설명하는 categorical outlook은 area forecasts에서만 사용되며 다음과 같이 정의된다:

 

1. LIFR(Low IFR). ceiling 500ft 미만 및/혹은 시정 1마일 미만.

 

2. IFR. ceiling 500 ~ 1,000ft 및/혹은 시정 1 ~ 3마일.

 

3. MVFR(Marginal VFR). ceiling 1,000 ~ 3,000ft 및/혹은 시정 3 ~ 5마일.

 

4. VFR. ceiling 3,000ft 초과 및 시정 5마일 초과(sky clear 포함).

 

b. LIFR, IFR, 혹은 VFR의 원인은 ceiling restriction이나 visibility restriction(혹은 둘 다)으로 표시된다. “CIG” 및/혹은 weather symbol과obstruction to vision symbol이 사용된다. 전망 기간 도중 25노트 이상의 바람이나 돌풍이 예상되는 경우 모든 범주에 “WIND”라는 단어가 포함된다.

 

EXAMPLE-

1. LIFR CIG - low IFR due to low ceiling.

2. IFR FG - IFR due to visibility restricted by fog.

3. MVFR CIG HZ FU - marginal VFR due to both ceiling and visibility restricted by haze and smoke.

4. IFR CIG RA WIND - IFR due to both low ceiling and visibility restricted by rain. wind expected to be 25 knots or greater.
