비행사는 공중 항법을 통해 목적지와 이동 경로를 결정한다. 이 교재는 공중 항법에 사용되는 기술과 방법에 대한 참고 자료의 역할을 수행한다. 이 교재 외에도 항법의 기술 및 방법에 대한 우수한 참고 자료를 제공하는 여러 출처들이 있다:

∙The United States Observatory and United States Navy Oceanographic Office – 여기에서 발행되는 간행물로는 Air Almanac, Nautical Almanac, NV Publication 9 (Volumes 1 and 2)이 있다.

 

∙The American Practical Navigator, SR Publication 249, Volumes 1 through 3, Sight Reduction Tables for Air Navigation and Catalog, and the NGA Public Sale Aeronautical Charts and Products – 국가지리정보국(NGA - National Geo-Spatial Intelligence Agency. 이름이 바뀌기 전에는 NIMA[National Imagery and Mapping Agency]라 불렸음)에서 발행된다.
